Connect with your sponsor child
Sponsor children love to hear from their sponsors, and greatly treasure photos and letters they receive.
Using the form below you can easily connect with your sponsor child by sending them a message and even some photos. These will be printed in-country by our staff and given to your sponsor child to keep. Your sponsor child will have the opportunity to respond, and if they do, this will be emailed to you.
What sort of photos are appropriate to send?
Your sponsor child would love to receive photos of you, your family, and your pets. Seeing your face can help them connect with you. These photos are cherished and children will often stick them up in pride of place on their wall.
What should I write about in my letter?
There are lots of good things to talk about with your sponsor child. Pick a few ideas from this list each time you write. Try to keep your words simple and your letter short to assist in translation.
- Introduce yourself
“Hello! My name is Hannah. I am 47 years old. I work as a primary school teacher. I like to play tennis and cook delicious cakes.“
- Introduce your family and your pets
“In my family I have a son called Peter who is 12, and a daughter called Kate who is 9. Peter likes to draw pictures and read books. Kate likes to dance and sing. We have a dog called Chum who is black and fluffy. He loves to get lots of cuddles.”
- Talk about your part of the world, and ask them about theirs
“I live at the bottom of Australia, where it is cold but very beautiful. My house is surrounded by tall trees, and there is a creek nearby with lots of noisy frogs. Sometimes I see kangaroos and possums. I like to listen to the kookaburras laughing in the trees. I would love to learn more about your country. What do you like best about where you live?”
- Ask about their favourite things and their interests, and share yours
“What do you like to learn about? I am really interested in gardening. I like to learn how to grow vegetables and fruit at home. What fruit do you like best? I love mangoes but it is too cold for them to grow where I live.” (Other favourites could include: food, sport, school subject, game, animal, colour, thing to do in your free time)
- Ask about their hopes and dreams for the future, and share yours
“What job would you like to have when you grow up? Peter wants to be a librarian, and Kate would like to be a veterinarian and care for animals.”
- Give words of encouragement
“I am proud of you” “I am praying for you” “I love to see how you have grown” “You are working so hard at school” “I believe that you can achieve your dreams”
Have fun writing your letter. Your sponsor child will be excited to receive it!
NOTE: We do not allow sponsor children to contact their sponsors directly. We care for the privacy and safety of both our sponsors and our children. All correspondence goes through the Country Manager to ensure what is shared is in the best interests of both child and sponsor.
